Looking at Nighttime Candle Rituals

What nighttime candle rituals have you been using, or do you know of? They’re a beautiful way to end an evening and help disconnect your mind and body from a busy day.  We ourselves enjoy an evening filled with twinkling candles, so are sharing with you a few of our favourite nighttime candle rituals to try yourself.

Nighttime Candle Rituals

Beautiful & Calming Nighttime Candle Rituals

Sleep can be elusive for many of us. Stress, work, illness or even our environment impact upon the quality and quantity of sleep we receive. With professionals recommending around eight hours a night, it’s time to stop and take stock of what you are achieving. Is your sleep solid, or is it broken up? Do you have difficulty falling asleep initially, or if you wake during the night, can you not get back to sleep?

Our soy wax candles can be a part of your nighttime candle rituals, all designed to help relax your mind and body to prepare it for a good night’s sleep. Here are a few of our favourite candle rituals:

  • Evening skincare routine – light a couple of tea lights when you are doing your nightly skincare routine. Focus on what you are doing with your fingers, the feel of the cream or sponge on your face and letting your eyes focus on your twinkling candles to help calm your mind.
  • After supper routine – switch off the TV and any communication devices, put on some soothing music, light your favourite scented candle (we recommend Cape Reinga Cliffs and Cooks Candle), put on some soothing music and dim the lights. Start to pay attention to what your body is telling you; it will let you know when you are ready for bed. Heavy eyelids, relaxed shoulders and a slowing the mind are all signs to be mindful of.
  • Make a cuppa – as you make a drink of herbal tea or warm cocoa, light yourself a candle and begin to tell yourself that it’s time to start winding down for bed. Focus on emptying your mind of thoughts, dim the lights and if needed, do a brain dump to remove thoughts from your mind.

We hope you enjoy trying out our favourite nighttime candle rituals. Remember that it is important you never leave a candle burning as you sleep, so be sure to extinguish your evening candles before hopping into bed. Sweet dreams.
